All the Boxes

This is a tour of every box in WonderMail — what each one holds, what lands there, and how to move between them quickly.

Everyday boxes

  • Inbox — the mail that matters.
  • Other — newsletters, receipts and bulk mail.
  • Sent — mail you have sent from any connected account.
  • Drafts — unsent messages, including drafts restored by undoing a send. Scheduled sends are listed in Settings → Scheduled.
  • Archive — everything you archived with E, L, or a rule. Nothing is deleted; search still finds it.

Pro Tip: archive freely instead of deleting. Archived mail stays fully searchable, so you never have to decide whether you might need something later.

If a new email reaches a conversation in the moment you archive it, before WonderMail has shown it to you, that new email is not archived with the rest — it comes back to your Inbox or Other as unread.

Sent emails always stay in Sent — archiving isn't offered there (pressing E in Sent shows a note instead); use Trash to remove one.

Time-based boxes

  • Follow-Ups — reply reminders you set and emails coming back from snooze.
  • Snoozed — everything currently snoozed, with the time it will return.
  • Future — press - to park an email with a 0–9 importance rating for things you want out of sight but not forgotten. A periodic reminder surfaces what is waiting there. The reminder never fires for marketing or sales pitches, and a parked email never also appears in Follow-Ups when its snooze expires.

Pro Tip: use Future rather than Trash for "maybe someday" mail. The importance rating means the periodic reminder surfaces the things that mattered first.

Spam and deleting mail

  • Spam and Trash — mirrored with your provider, so emptying either there empties it here on the next sync.
  • Clear WonderMail Trash — in the Trash box, the header above the list has Clear WonderMail Trash. It clears every Trash conversation from WonderMail (only the selected account when one is chosen) without waiting for your email provider. Copies stay in your Gmail or Outlook Trash until you remove them there or the provider removes them, and cleared mail does not come back on refresh or reconnect. A new reply, or restoring the conversation from Trash in Gmail or Outlook, brings it back. Conversations still being updated with your email account are left for a minute so nothing gets out of step.
  • Delete forever (one email) — go to the Trash box, open the email, click the … (More actions) button in the reading pane header, then click the trash-can icon labelled Delete forever and confirm. This button only exists in Trash; in every other box the delete key X simply moves the email to Trash. Delete forever removes the email from WonderMail and from your email account, and cannot be undone.
  • Move to Trash — in the Spam box, the header above the list lets you move every visible spam conversation to Trash in one click. Press Ctrl+Z to undo.
  • A new reply brings a trashed conversation back — deleting a conversation says what you think of the mail you already read, not of what arrives next, so when someone replies to a conversation sitting in Trash the whole conversation returns to your Inbox (to Other if the sender is one of your Other senders) and shows as unread. Blocked senders, snoozed conversations and mail you sent yourself stay where they are, and your rules still apply to the new message.

Getting around

  • Switch boxes with the header menu, with G (Go-to menu), or with the direct keys: I Inbox, O Other, P Follow-Ups, Y Sent, D Drafts, T Tasks.
  • On desktop, opening a mailbox or label automatically opens its newest email. Opening Drafts opens the most recently updated saved draft; replies and forwards reopen with their original conversation below the composer.
  • Not sure what a button does? Hover over it for a moment and a tip names the action — including its shortcut key when there is one. On mobile, tap the small ? icons for tips instead.
