Triage
These are the fastest ways to clear a list: single-key actions, the hover toolbar, the right-click menu, and acting on many emails at once.
Single-key actions
- E archives.
- On desktop, archiving the selected email opens the next visible email in the list, or the preceding one when you reach the bottom. Account filters and search results are respected; split-row and bulk archive behavior stays the same.
- X moves to Trash, and restores an email to the Inbox when you are in the Trash box.
- . toggles read and unread: marks an unread conversation read, or marks a read conversation unread so the blue dot shows again. Right-click any email for Mark Read / Mark Unread.
- * toggles the star.
- D goes to Drafts.
- Q opens an email rule for the sender.
- M opens the Move menu so you can send the email to any mailbox or label. The cursor starts in the Find a box or label box: type part of a box or label name, use Up and Down to pick a match, and press Enter to move.
The star icon appears on hover to the left of the date; starred conversations keep their star visible.
A fixed gray action rail sits between the email list and reading pane in every desktop mailbox. From top to bottom it shows Archive, Trash, your configured quick-snooze choices and a clock for Custom snooze. It never moves, and it acts on the email you have selected or every email selected in multi-select. The Archive button is hidden in Sent, where sent emails always stay.
Pro Tip: almost every action, including the right-click ones, shows an Undo toast — and ⌘/Ctrl-Z undoes the last one. Triage at speed and correct afterwards.
Hover and right-click
The quick-snooze buttons in the center rail default to 15m, 1h, 4h, 1d and 1w and can be changed in Settings → Snooze; add up to ten and the rail grows to match. The clock button beneath them opens the full snooze picker.
Right-click any row for the full action menu: archive, delete, snooze, label, move between Inbox and Other, create a rule, create a task from the email, or attach the email to an existing task.
Right-click a link inside an email you are reading and choose Copy link to copy its address. For an email address link, only the address itself is copied.
Click an email address link inside an email to start a new WonderMail email to that address. Hover over the link to copy just the address or search for it.
Right-click a picture inside an email you are reading and choose Copy image to copy the picture itself, ready to paste into another email or document. If the picture cannot be copied, its web address is copied instead. You can also choose Open image in new tab or Save image to download it.
Working in bulk
Select multiple emails to act on them at once; batch actions appear at the top of the list. L, J and Z all work on the whole selection, so you can label or snooze many emails in one step.
In the Spam box these batch actions become text buttons — Not Spam, Trash and Trash All — so the choices are unmistakable.
Open an email, then hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and click more emails. The open email and every Ctrl/⌘-clicked email receive checkboxes; Ctrl/⌘-click a checked row to remove just that row.
To select a whole run, click one email, then hold Shift and click another email above or below it — that email, the first one, and every email in between are selected. This works in every list, including Follow-Ups and Search.
Or press and hold an email in the list for about half a second: it gets a checkbox, and every email you click after that is selected too — no keys needed. Click a checked email to uncheck it.
Pro Tip: select a run of similar mail and press Z once. One snooze clears dozens of rows and brings them back together when you are ready.
