Spam and Blocking
Here's how SpamCrusher blocks unwanted senders, how to rescue mail that was caught by mistake, and where to review your blocks.
Blocking spam
- Outside the Spam box, S is SpamCrusher: it marks the email as spam and blocks the sender.
- B blocks a sender without marking the email as spam. Review and undo blocks in Settings → Block List.
- Blocked senders appear in Settings → Rules under "Blocked senders (SpamCrusher)" as a Mark as Spam entry, and in the right-click "Trace this email…" window, so you can always see why that sender's mail goes to Spam.
Pro Tip: use B, not S, for a sender who is merely unwanted rather than spam. The mail stops arriving without teaching your provider that the sender is a spammer.
Rescuing good mail
Inside the Spam box, S means Not spam. It unblocks the sender, clears the spam flag, and moves the email back to whichever box that sender is trained for (Other if a rule exists, otherwise Inbox). It also pulls that sender's 3 most recent other spam emails back out with it.
Selecting emails in Spam shows text buttons: Not Spam rescues the selected conversations, Trash moves the selected conversation to Trash, and Trash All moves every conversation in Spam to Trash. Trash All uses the same confirmation as a bulk delete on your main account.
Right-click an email in Spam and choose Mark Not Spam to move it to your Inbox, unblock the sender and clear their spam flag. It also rescues that sender's 3 most recent other spam emails, and Ctrl+Z undoes it.
Dragging an email from Trash onto Inbox or Other asks whether to also mark the sender as safe. Restore & Train clears spam flags, unblocks the sender and sends their future mail to that box; Just Restore only moves the email back.
Moving or dragging a spam email to Inbox or Other does the same rescue, and additionally trains the sender to that box.
Pro Tip: rescue with S rather than dragging one email at a time — it also brings back that sender's 3 most recent spam emails, so a wrongly blocked contact is fixed in one keystroke.
Every rescue shows an Undo toast that restores the mailbox and the sender's blocked/spam flags.
