Reply Reminders (Remind / N)

Reply reminders nudge you when nobody answers an email you sent. Here's how to set them, what the defaults are, and how they cancel themselves.

Setting a reminder

  • Press N on an email in your Sent box to set one; for received mail, use Z to snooze it instead.
  • The composer has a Remind toggle beside Send and Schedule. Leave it on and WonderMail sets the reminder automatically the moment the message is sent.
  • Switching Remind on shows "Remind at" followed by your default reminder day and time. Click that wording to open the existing reminder picker and edit it; your default settings stay unchanged.
  • Click the word Remind in the composer to choose when this one reminder fires. The picker looks and works exactly like Schedule Send: a Custom box at the top where you can type a time ("friday 9am", "in 3 days", "1pm" — the same wording Snooze understands), a scrolling calendar, a Time column, plus a "Use my default" button. Picking a time switches Remind on and the label shows "Remind at" with the chosen time. Tapping a date applies the reminder with the current time; clicking a time applies it straight away, and if you picked a date first, the picker closes with that date and time. The line under the Custom box shows the chosen date and time. Click off the picker to close it, or use the X or Cancel to close it and put the reminder back as it was. Schedule Send shows the same preview line and has the same X and Cancel buttons. The choice applies to that message only; your Settings default is unchanged.
  • The mobile composer has the same Remind control beside Schedule, and it works for both Send and Schedule.
  • The Remind control is always available in Compose, Reply and Forward, on desktop and mobile.
  • WonderMail remembers whether you switched Remind on for each person you write to (To addresses first, then Cc) and starts your next email to them the same way. You can always flip it before sending.
  • Settings > General > "Add reminder to all sent emails" starts Remind switched on for new emails. With that setting on, a reply or forward starts with Remind on only when it asks something - it contains a question mark or a request wording such as "can you", "please confirm", "let me know" or "any update". Replies that simply answer or acknowledge stay off, and switching Remind yourself always wins. Opening the Remind picker starts on your Follow-Ups default day and time. It is off by default, so normally you decide per email.

Pro Tip: hover the Remind toggle in the composer to see exactly when the reminder would fire.

Defaults and settings

By default the reminder fires 1 day after sending at 4:30 PM local time, rolling past the weekend. Change the default reminder time, the number of days after sending, whether weekends are skipped, and whether reminders are enabled at all in Settings → General → Follow-Ups.

What happens when it fires

When it fires, the email appears in your Follow-Ups box. You can archive it, snooze it again, or reply from there.

If someone replies before the deadline, the reminder cancels itself — you are never nudged about a conversation that already moved.

If you set a reminder on a scheduled email, the Follow-Ups row shows "Sends" with the send time until the email actually goes out, and clicking it opens the scheduled email. Until the email goes out the row sits under the "Waiting" strip, not in the main list. The reminder starts tracking replies once the email sends.

Pro Tip: leave the Remind toggle on for anything you need an answer to. Because a reply cancels the reminder automatically, there is no cost to setting one on every important send.
